From Cannabis addiction to mindful Consumption

Oct 28

Introduction:

From healing to haunting, my cannabis journey has been a rollercoaster. It’s time to shift gears and explore how we can harness cannabis for personal growth, steering clear of its potential pitfalls. Let’s redefine our relationship and reclaim control of our path.

I began my journey with cannabis at the age of 19, unaware of the profound impact it would have on my life. What started as an occasional escape soon spiraled into a regular habit. Little did I know that this plant would take me on a rollercoaster ride of self-discovery, addiction, and ultimately, mindfulness. In this blog article, I want to share my personal journey and how I transitioned from being a habitual smoker to a mindful cannabis consumer.

Back in 2013, when we had no long papers we first emptied the cigarettes and filled them up again with herbs.

The Early Days of Cannabis Use:
During the initial years, smoking weed with friends was a joyful experience. Laughter flowed freely, and life felt light and carefree. Cannabis acted as a bonding agent, connecting me with like-minded travelers during my adventures. I am immensely grateful for the beautiful moments it brought into my life – from the friendships forged through shared joints to the unforgettable encounters with fellow explorers.

The Unseen Impact:
It took me a while to realize the profound impact cannabis was having on my life. What began as an enhancer of social situations soon transformed into a daily ritual that I couldn’t escape. I would use it indiscriminately, whether I was alone or with friends, and even in the mornings. The sacredness of the experience had been lost, replaced by a habit that seemed to control me.

Addiction Unveiled:
I was in denial about my addiction. I convinced myself that I wasn’t dependent on weed, even as it began to affect my relationships and daily life. I would sneak away to smoke, even when living with my girlfriend, and kept going in circles, feeding my own demons. It took more than one painful breakup for me to see the reality of my situation.

The Turning Point:
Two years after my breakup, a serendipitous encounter with a vaping device changed the course of my cannabis journey. This small device allowed me to consume cannabis without tobacco, leading to a more mindful and controlled approach to its use. I took this as a sign and decided to give it a chance.

Mindful Consumption:
This shift towards mindful consumption was transformative. I started using significantly less cannabis, focusing on the tobacco-free element, higher quality products, and most importantly, my state of mind and intentions. I began to ask myself questions before consuming – Who am I with? How do I feel? Am I celebrating a special moment or simply succumbing to habit? This introspection made all the difference.

The Benefits of Mindful Consumption:
With my new vaping device, I experienced a pure taste of weed and realized that I needed only a tiny amount to achieve the desired effect. Instead of getting high, I felt elevated and in control. Over time, I naturally reduced my cannabis consumption as I explored other methods to boost my serotonin levels – from soaking in the sun with music to yoga, exercise, or simply facing my illusionary fears in my mind.

The Urgent Need for Responsible Consumption:
Most people who smoke weed may not realize the potential harm they expose themselves to by mixing it with tobacco or using low-quality rolling materials. The emergence of activated carbon filters offers a promising solution to protect lung health, but awareness is essential.

Key Questions to Ask:
As we embark on this journey towards responsible cannabis consumption, we must address these vital questions:

  • Quality and Source of Cannabis: Do you know where your cannabis comes from? Supporting ethical and sustainable growers is crucial to ensure a safe       and high-quality product.
  • Protecting Your Lungs: Are you using tobacco alternatives or activated carbon filters to reduce the risks associated with smoking cannabis?                           Lung health should be a priority.
  • Understanding Your Intentions: Why do you want to consume cannabis? Reflect on whether it aligns with your well-being or serves as an escape.
  • Respecting Cannabis as a sacred Plant: Remember that cannabis is a unique and special plant with immense healing potential. Mixing it with harmful         substances or using it without intention diminishes its positive effects and can turn into feeding your demons.

Conclusion:

The goal is not to demonize the use of recreational Cannabis but to promote responsible and mindful consumption. Cannabis can have numerous therapeutic benefits when used with intention and care. By addressing these essential questions and fostering open conversations, we can create a safer and more conscious cannabis culture that maximizes the plant’s potential for positive impact on our lives.

In the end, sometimes less is more, and as every doctor – from the East to the West – would agree, the dosage makes the venom. Let’s confront this topic to find ways to let cannabis help us lead better, healthier, and more conscious lifestyles.
